Belgium and Egypt kick off their 2026 World Cup campaign with a clash at Lumen Field in Seattle, USA. The European side, led by Courtois, De Bruyne and Lukaku, start as favourites, but they cannot afford to relax if they want to avoid an early upset at the hands of the team led by Mohamed Salah.

On paper, these are the two strongest teams in Group G, which they share with Iran and New Zealand. As such, the winner of this match will take a giant step towards finishing top of the group. The Belgians’ aim in this World Cup is to compete and go as far as possible; the Pharaohs are looking to progress beyond the group stage for the first time in their history, having been knocked out at the first hurdle on all three previous occasions they have played in a World Cup.

‘Final result’ prediction

Belgium are the favourites in this clash, given the calibre of their players and their track record in recent World Cups. However, in recent years they have not been the side that dazzled at Russia 2018, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals by the eventual champions, France. Egypt, for their part, come into the match with nothing to lose and a squad of high-quality players. Therefore, a draw is a very likely outcome, given that both teams’ priority is not to lose.

Prediction: Both teams to score

The pitch at Seattle’s Lumen Field will feature top attacking players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Lukaku for Belgium, and Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush for Egypt. Although the Belgians have the world’s best goalkeeper in Courtois, their attacking style of play means they concede chances in every match. Consequently, the bet that both teams will score is very appealing, especially given that the odds are 1.95.

Following on from the previous point, when creating our custom bet, a very attractive option is that there will be over 2.5 goals in the match overall.
