Argentina’s route to this quarter-final has been far more dramatic than their perfect record suggests. They needed extra time to get past Cape Verde and then produced a remarkable late comeback against Egypt after trailing 2-0. Those results underline their resilience, but they also expose a side that has struggled to control knockout matches. Messi remains decisive, yet too much of their attacking threat still depends on his influence.

The shape of the contest could suit Switzerland. They are comfortable without the ball, defend narrow spaces well and have the patience to wait for mistakes rather than force the issue. If Argentina fail to score early, frustration may begin to creep into their play. At this stage of a World Cup, with so much at stake, a cautious and increasingly tense match would be no surprise.

Switzerland have already shown they can survive that sort of pressure. Their penalty shoot-out win over Colombia followed another disciplined defensive display, with Kobel, Xhaka and Freuler providing calm in the key moments. Manzambi’s absence removes an important attacking option, but the Swiss are not built around one player. Their organisation and experience give them a genuine chance of staying level deep into the game.

My bet is the draw after 90 minutes at 3.50 with bet365. Argentina have the greater individual quality and may still find a way through in extra time, but I would not rush to back them at a short price in normal time. Switzerland are awkward, composed and difficult to break down. For me, the value lies in another tight contest that remains undecided at the final whistle.
