Laytown Races 2026: Race Times, Runners, Tickets and Beach Racing Guide

Laytown does not look like a racecourse until the Irish Sea begins to give the strand back. On Thursday 10 September, six races will be staged on the County Meath beach, with the latest declarations now published and the card running from 16:39 to 19:20. All six races are straight contests over six or seven furlongs, with Racing TV listed for coverage. Late withdrawals can still change the numbers.

The live card includes Moyassr at 17:14, Collective Power at 17:49, Reponse Finale at 18:50 and Valiant Force in the finale. The unusual surface means the final going, draw and any previous Laytown experience deserve a second look.

Tickets, gates and the best time to arrive

Gates open at 14:30. LMFM lists general admission at €15, with tickets available through the official Laytown Races website. The organiser’s ticket page had originally described the first race as approximately 16:30; the updated racecard now gives 16:39, so use the latter for race planning.

Most Irish tracks sell permanence, grandstands, parade rings, familiar sightlines. Laytown sells the opposite. The sea retreats, rails appear on wet sand, horses arrive and a functioning racecourse exists for a few hours before the coastline takes the place back. That is not a gimmick around the racing; it is why the meeting still feels distinct after more than 150 years.

The racecourse manager made that point while asking racegoers to protect the goodwill that makes the unusual meeting possible.

Laytown tide times, parking and transport

High tide is forecast for 11:37, with low tide around 17:21: almost exactly during the card. The course is railed once the tide has gone out, and all races are run on the straight.

Parking is limited. Organisers have specifically asked visitors not to block pavements or wheelchair access, and recommend looking towards the Bettystown side of Laytown if the immediate area is full.

By rail, services run from Dublin Connolly and Drogheda. Laytown station is roughly a ten-minute walk from the races, while a free courtesy shuttle is scheduled before racing and back after the finale.
